Feeling Exhausted?

By Allison Pelot

Hi there

I’ve talked to so many women that are struggling with perimenopause and menopause symptoms. Everything from extreme fatigue, weight gain, hot flashes, foggy brain to a lack of sleep.

It affects everything from our level of energy to our ability to hold onto muscle.

Some women experience either a few of these symptoms or all of the above. Although I don’t just talk about menopause and only work with women, I think it’s important to bring these issues to light.

As I’ve experienced some of these myself I’ve understood just how important it is to share what I’ve learned and what’s worked for me.

Not only for the women I share this with but for their partners and their families too.

I know how scary it can be when your body changes practically overnight and how the things you were doing before just aren’t working anymore. It’s a feeling of unsafely in your own body which feels very unknown.

The key here is to lean into where you are with it and then accept what’s happening, not resist it. When you do this you have the energy to move forward with inspired action that’s helpful instead of out of the need to fix your body or your symptoms.

Because there’s always something behind the symptoms you’re experiencing. In other words, it’s not about the symptoms but the reason behind the symptoms which is calling for your attention.

Your body is sending you messages about your needs and you are co-collaborating with your body but sometimes this can be misconstrued as your body working against you.

I’ve heard some of my clients say, that they feel so angry with their body right now. I understand where they’re coming from and see that this is a cry for us to lean even more into what our body needs in that moment.

It’s a critical time to create space in your day for you. So you can meet your body’s needs, not to override them. When you do this you open yourself up to listen to what your body is telling you.

Because your body is not working against you it’s working with you. It’s just that most of us aren’t listening because we’re either too busy or we’re still using emotional coping mechanisms to get by.

This blocks you from feeling which is an incredibly important skill to start cultivating when you hit mid-life. It’s so important that if we continue to suppress how we really feel this leads to more health issues and more hormonal imbalances in the future.

So how do we begin to balance our hormones naturally and let the symptoms go? We begin to implement real change in both our lifestyle and in our mindset.

Because the changes you want to see in your body require consistency, patience and compassion.

Two things we must realize as we begin to implement change in our life are…

That you can no longer put yourself on the back burner and that you must make yourself a priority. Especially if you’ve been avoiding or overriding how you feel for sometime now.

So I complied a list of things I do in my life and recommendations I give to my clients to aid in mitigating menopause symptoms and/or hormonal fluctuations.

It all starts with your metabolism and your metabolism is affected by both your physical well-being and your emotional / mental well-being.

Yes for some people hormonal replacement therapy is helpful but it doesn’t take the place of a solid health foundation. So even if you are taking HRT I highly recommend you also work on your food, fitness and emotional foundation.

Because no drug can replace the benefits of living a healthy life. Medication can aid you as you begin to bring these lifestyle changes in but then as your body naturally balances oftentimes the drugs are no longer needed.

To me this is what empowered wellness looks and feels like. Taking precious time for ourselves and valuing ourselves enough to honor what we need in each moment.

otion and

I think we can all benefit from this! I did a Livestream on Youtube about this very topic and in this video I share some of my key lifestyle changes for hormonal balance and emotional wellness. These are very simple yet very powerful. The hardest part is implementing these changes daily but I know you can do it! Enjoy!
